A Man Who Couldn't Walk

And they came bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four men. Mark 2:3

One day when people heard that Jesus was at home in Capernaum, they crowded into His house. Everyone wanted to hear what He had to say. Everyone wanted to see Him and touch Him. The house and porch and yard were filled with people.

Four men came carrying their friend on a stretcher. He wasn't able to walk, and they wanted Jesus to heal him. But they couldn't even get to the door.

"I know," said one. "Let's try getting in  through the roof." So they took the stretcher with their friend on it to the top of the house. They pulled tiles off the roof until there was a big hole over the place where Jesus was standing.

Then they put ropes on the stretcher and lowered their friend down into the room.

Jesus saw these people had real faith. So He said to the sick man, " Your sins are forgiven."

Some teachers of the law were shocked. "Only God can forgive sins," they said.

Jesus said, "I will prove that I can forgive sins." He picked up the crippled man and said, "Get up! Pick up that stretcher and walk!"

The man stood, picked up the stretcher and went out in the crowd where everyone could see him. They were all surprised and joyful. They praised God saying, "We have never seen anything like this in our lives!"
