New Testament Stories Jesus and the Little Girl
"Why do
you not understand what I am saying? It is because you can't hear my word." Luke
8:43 One day a man named Jarius rushed up to Jesus. He fell at His feet and begged Jesus to come to his house and heal his sick daughter. This man was president of the synagogue, where people came to worship and study God's word. His daughter was about twelve years old. While Jesus and Jarius was on their way, a servant ran up and said, "Don't bother the Teacher anymore." When they got to the house, Jesus allowed only Peter, James and John and the girl's parents to come inside. Everyone was crying. "Don't cry, she is only asleep," said Jesus. Some of the people had laughed because they knew she was dead. Then Jesus went to the bed where she was lying. Her took her hand and said, "Child, arise!" At once her spirit came back into her, and she stood up. Jesus took her to her parents. "Give her some food now," He said. They were astonished, but Jesus said, "Don't tell anyone about this!"
